The 3rd meeting of the VISIONARY project took place in Aberdeen, United Kingdom, on 10-11 September 2024. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the project’s accomplishments and outline plan for the upcoming year, with all partners fully engaged in achieving the project’s ambitious goals.
The meeting began with a welcoming session led by the project’s coordinator and PI from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and Co-PI from the University of Aberdeen (UNIABDN), followed by a review of the project’s conceptual framework, which ties together all work packages within the project. UNIABDN led discussions on value chain analysis, presenting a framework for analysing practices of sustainability in supply chains, which sparked in-depth discussions among partners on the effectiveness of the framework in reflecting findings from their respective case studies.
Later in the day, the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FIBL) outlined the final design for a factorial experiment on public procurement of organic products. AKI then led a brainstorming session on producing a joint paper. HCC concluded the day by presenting plans for capacity-building activities and agreed on producing briefing documents to share findings with stakeholders.
The second day focused on thematic group discussions on study designs for biodiversity, water management, and retail interventions. The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) shared results from a Q study on levers and barriers to transitioning to plant-based protein. The VISIONARY communications team provided an update on their dissemination efforts, marking key milestones in the project’s second year and set the plan for the upcoming year. The meeting wrapped up with a session on collaboration with sister projects and administrative and financial matters.
