The VISIONARY project and University of Trento are inviting to their Cross Country Visit in Italy.

Where & When?

Trento, Italy | June 23-24, 2025
The event will begin early on June 23, so arrival must be planned for June 22.

All venues will be located in the Autonomous Province of Trento (Italy), and will be clearly specified in the final version of the agenda.

Who?

We will be happy to welcome
• Dairy farmers and livestock breeders,
• Dairy industry representatives (milk transformation, and dairy products commercialization),
• Dairy farming and industry experts and researchers,
• Dairy cooperatives and consortia representatives,
• Policymakers and institutional stakeholders in the agri-food sector,
• Representatives of EU-funded projects focused on sustainable dairy production,
• Agri-environmental NGO representatives.

What?

The following topics will be covered throughout the Cross Country Visit:
• Sustainable dairy farming in alpine environments
• Best practices in alpine dairy farming
• Management of alpine pastures for grazing and feed production
• Integration of agritourism in dairy farming
• Dairy farming and conservation of alpine ecosystems
• Carbon farming and dairy
• Dairy farming and coexistence with large carnivores (e.g., wolves and bears)
• Milk processing at small (e.g., malghe) and large scales
• Dairy farming and production in cooperative systems
• Dairy products and tourism
• Marketing and commercialization strategies for alpine dairy products

Monday, 23 June 2025, Afternoon – Field visit at Consortium of Trentino Social Dairy Farms
Monday, 23 June 2025, Evening – Typical South-Tirolean Dinner

Tuesday, 24 June 2025, 9:00-14:00 – Workshop at University of Trento, Department of Economics and Managment.
The Workshop will conclude with a light lunch.

Costs:

Participants (or their organizations/inviting organizations) must cover travel and subsistence expenses. The hosting organization will cover activities outlined in the agenda, excluding all dinners and the Day 1 lunch at the malga. The estimated cost for these meals is approximately €30 per person per meal.
