Introducing… UPV

22. June 2023

Once a month, we are introducing one of our consortium partners and their role in our project – starting with Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), VISIONARY’s project coordinator: The UPV researchers in this project are part of the Department of Economics and Social Sciences (DECS), also linked to the School of Agricultural Engineering and Environment. They have participated in several EU-funded research projects in recent years (SALSA, TRANSMANGO, VITAL, SUSTAINMED). The main research areas of this team are agricultural economics and policy, rural development and food systems.

The UPV team coordinates VISIONARY while leading WP2 ‘Mapping levers and lock-ins in the food system’, which provides the conceptual and analytical framing for the project, and T6.2 ‘Policy and regulatory mapping’. UPV also participates in the implementation of several case studies, namely on biodiversity, collective water management, plant-based protein transition and sustainable food consumption.

UPV is a public institution dedicated to research and teaching, currently considered one of the leading universities in Spain. Founded in 1971, today it comprises over 30,000 students, 2,500 academics and researchers, and 13 university research centres spread over three campuses. UPV has participated in more than 200 European research projects under EU research funding programmes, and it is ranked among the best 50 universities in the subject of ‘Agricultural and Forestry’ in the QS World University Rankings
